Teoscar Hernández: Dodgers Fans Played ‘Huge Part’ In Free Agency Decision

Teoscar Hernández reached free agency for the second consecutive offseason after a productive year with the Los Angeles Dodgers and drew much more interest this time around.

After a stalemate in negotiations, Hernández returned to the Dodgers on a three-year, $66 million contract that includes a team option for the 2028 season.

Hernández reflected on his 2024 season and highlighted the unwavering support he received from Dodgers fans, which influenced free agency.

“I always kept that in mind,” Hernández said. “Since the first day I got here, Dodgers fans were cheering for me and giving me the support I needed to have the season that I had last year; not only for me, but the whole team.

“When you have that support, as a player you think you have to give 110% every day for this fanbase so they can get the max out of every single game.”

Hernández added that Dodgers fans played a part in his decision to re-sign with the team.

“A huge part,” he answered when asked if the support from fans convinced him to stay in L.A. “When you have a fanbase like the Dodgers fanbase rooting for you, thinking about you, wanting you to come back and play for this wonderful organization, it means a lot. That played a key part in my decision to sign back with the Dodgers.”

Hernández hit .272/.339/.501 with 32 doubles, 33 home runs, 99 RBI, 12 stolen bases and a 134 wRC+ en route to winning a third Silver Slugger Award and second selection to the All-MLB Team in 2024.

Hernández led all National League outfielders in home runs, slugging percentage, RBI and a 14.9% barrel rate.

Teoscar Hernández visits Dodgers World Series mural

The Dodgers winning the 2024 World Series has prompted various tributes around Los Angeles, including several murals from famed artists.

Gustavo Zermeño, Jr. painted a new Dodgers World Series mural featuring Hernández, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Tommy Edman and Shohei Ohtani.

Hernández recently visited the mural, which can be found at 2007 Hooper Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90011.
