The Los Angeles Dodgers fell 12-1 to the rival San Francisco Giants for a Spring Training matchup at Camelback Ranch as part of a split-squad day. The Dodgers who went on the road did manage to come up with a win against the Cleveland Guardians.

Noah Syndergaard made his fourth start of the spring during the home game, looking to continue his early success with the club. He entered the game with a 0.96 ERA over 9.1 innings.

After a scoreless first inning, the Giants rallied in the second with three straight one-out singles. Syndergaard then struck out Ford Proctor but followed that by allowing a two-run single to Stephen Pisciotty.

John Rooney entered in relief but walked the first batter and allowed another single to put the Giants up 4-0 before he struck out Mike Yastrezemski.

Syndergaard re-entered the game in the third and recorded three groundouts before throwing a perfect fourth inning as well.

Freddie Freeman recorded the first Dodgers hit of the afternoon with a one-out single in the bottom of the fourth inning against Alex Wood, but the Dodgers were unable to string anything together.

The Giants once again rallied in the sixth with a single and a double to begin the inning. Syndergaard then recorded two outs but followed with a walk to load the bases before he was replaced by Mark Washington, who immediately allowed a two-run single.

Andre Jackson took over in the sixth inning to put an end to Syndergaard’s day after he went 4.1 innings, giving up six earned runs with three strikeouts and a walk.

The Dodgers finally got on the board in the sixth inning when Freeman hit his second single of the game following singles from Jose Ramos and Patrick Mazeika, but Trayce Thompson ended the inning with a double play.

In the seventh inning, the Giants quickly added that run back to their lead when LaMonte Wade Jr. doubled and Thairo Estrada singled, making the score 7-1. Another run then came in when Bryce Johnson reached on a fielding error.

Phil Bickford took over in the eighth inning, where he gave up two singles and a double to make the score 10-1 before he was replaced by Justin Hagenman. The Giants then added their 11th run of the game with another single, and scored a 12th in the ninth inning.

The Dodgers finished the day with just four hits, with Freeman having half of them.

Clayton Kershaw strong for Dodgers against Guardians

In the road split-squad game, Kershaw pitched five innings while giving up two runs on four hits with three strikeouts. His next start is scheduled to come on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels at Dodger Stadium, which puts him in line to start the second game of the season.
