First pitch at Salt River Fields between the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers was delayed 20 minutes to rainy weather that eventually gave way to clear skies.

Austin Barnes drew a one-out walk in the first inning, then advanced to third base on Kyle Freeland’s errant pickoff throw. Barnes’ trip around the bases concluded with him scoring on a passed ball that also walked Scott Van Slyke.

Freeland got out of the inning by inducing Rob Segedin into a double play. Julio Urias’ 2017 Spring Training was brief. Charlie Blackmon led off the bottom of the first with a base hit and later scored on Nolan Arenado’s base hit to center field.

Urias collected two strikeouts, allowed one run, two hits and threw 14 pitches (11 strikes) in his lone inning of work. The 20-year-old finished his day with extra throws in the bullpen.

After O’Koye Dickson reached on a hit by pitch in the second inning, Chris Taylor lined a single into center. Henry Ramos, fresh off defeating Yasiel Puig in FIFA in the morning, put the Dodgers ahead with a three-run homer.

Jacob Rhame issued a pair of walks in the bottom of the second and gave way to Edward Paredes with two on and two outs. The left-handed reliever allowed back-to-back RBI singles before striking out Carlos Gonzalez to end the inning.

Van Slyke drew a walk in the third after Barnes singled, putting two on with nobody out. Following a double steal, Segedin grounded into a fielder’s choice, which allowed Barnes to score.

In his first action of the spring, Yaisel Sierra issued a pair of walks but otherwise tossed two scoreless innings and finished with three strikeouts. Playing at Salt River Fields for the first time since suffering a fractured tibia, Andre Ethier clubbed a solo home run to deep right field.

Brett Eibner hit a two-run double, and Dickson also took Jordan Lyles deep, with his two-run homer extending the Dodgers’ to 10-3. Van Slyke singled in the sixth, advanced to second base on a wild pitch, and scored on an error. Andrew Toles tacked on a two-run double in the seventh inning.

Tyler Holt’s RBI single in the ninth extended the Dodgers’ lead, and they went on to avenge their first loss of the spring with a 14-3 victory, improving to 3-1 in Cactus League play.
