The Los Angeles Dodgers had their final split-squad doubleheader of the spring Sunday afternoon, which saw a travel contingent head to Maryvale for a matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers. Manny Bañuelos made his second start of the spring for Los Angeles.

Bañuelos struggled against the Brewers’ high-powered offense, as he surrendered six hits and six runs in 3.1 innings of work. The left-hander walked three and finished with as many strikeouts in the Dodgers’ 7-3 defeat.

Milwaukee did not waste time putting runs on the board, as Christian Yelich hit a home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning. The southpaw then gave up another run in the first, two in the third and three in the fourth before being chased from the game.

The Dodgers scored some runs early as well, sparked by Chase Utley being hit by a pitch to begin the game. Joc Pederson followed with a double, and they later scored separately on sacrifice fly by Matt Kemp and Yasmani Grandal’s RBI groundout.

Dodgers prospect Edwin Rios launched a solo home run in the second inning to give the Dodgers a lead. The home run went over the batter’s eye in center field, which is the second time this week Rios has done that.

Major League relievers Josh Fields and Tony Cingrani both pitched as they’re ready for Opening Day, as they each tossed a scoreless inning in relief. Fields retiring all three hitters he faced, and Cingrani struck out out two.

Rich-hander Zach Neal pitched the final two innings for the Dodgers, giving up three hits and a run while striking out one.
