With the Los Angeles Dodgers coming off their first World Series win since 1988 and the season representing some return to normalcy, SportsNet LA enjoyed new highs in ratings for their game broadcasts, studio shows and weekly “Backstage: Dodgers” episodes.

SportsNet LA recorded their highest-ever ratings for all of the network’s programming, posting a 12% increase in household rating, going from 2.63 to 2.94. They additionally saw a 5% rise with the ages 25-54 demographic (1.5 vs. 1.43), along with a 5% increase in viewers (244,232 vs. 233,028).

SportsNet LA again carried all Dodgers Spring Training games this year, and televised more than 150 contests throughout the regular season.

Their game coverage featured pre- and postgame studio shows, which also recorded year-over-year increases. “Leadoff LA” enjoyed a 47% increase in household rating (0.25 vs. 0.17), 67% increase in A25-54 rating (0.1 vs. 0.06) and +42% increase in viewers (17,430 vs. 12,300).

“Access SportsNet: Dodgers pregame” airings had a 26% increase in HH rating (0.49 vs. 0.39), 31% increase in A25-54 rating (0.21 vs. 0.16) and 28% increase in viewers (37,699 vs. 29,443).

Meanwhile, the “Access SportsNet: Dodgers” postgame show recorded a 23% increase in HH rating (1.24 vs. 1.01), a 17% increase in A25-54rating (0.7 vs. 0.6) and a 19% increase in viewership (96,270 vs. 81,187).

“Backstage: Dodgers” saw the biggest increase in household rating at 83% (0.42 vs. 0.24), to go along with 71% increases in A25-54 rating (0.24 vs. 0.14) and viewers (30,456 vs. 17,838) during the regular season.

SportsNet LA broadcasting team

Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser were back in the broadcast booth this season but joined by new SportsNet LA reporter Kirsten Watson. She took over for Alanna Rizzo, who announced in January her intentions to be closer to family and has since returned to MLB Network.

John Hartung again anchored studio programming, where he was joined by Nomar Garciaparra, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Ned Colletti.

Spanish language telecasts on SportsNet LA featured Hall of Famer Jamie Jarrín and Pepe Yñiguez handling play-by-play duties, with Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela working as an analyst.
