Shohei Ohtani Picks Dodgers Uniform As Favorite Fortnite Skin

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani has been a part of the popular online multiplayer video game Fortnite since Monday, which is when he was first available for purchase from the item shop.

Ohtani’s skins in Fortnite are two separate designs, with one being his Dodgers uniform in three different styles and the other a high heat samurai suit that is a nod to the Tokyo Series and his Japanese heritage.

While Ohtani was slightly busy this past week helping the Dodgers to a sweep of the Chicago Cubs in the Tokyo Series, he eventually wants to play as himself in the video and has a preference for which Fornite skin he wants to use, according to Tom Verducci of Sports Illustrated:

“Obviously I’m a baseball player, so I’d probably have to choose one of the uniform outfits, whether it’s home or away,” he says. “Because I’m a baseball player, I would want to kind of swing the bat around while I’m playing.

“But, in any case, I would definitely like to play the game again with a uniform on.”

Ohtani’s uniform skin provides him with three options to choose from: the Dodgers home white, road gray, and a LEGO Style for LEGO Fortnite, which is its own game mode separate from the typical battle royal affair.

A typical game in Fortnite’s battle royal game mode features players utilizing a wide variety of weapons to eliminate each other in pursuit of being the last one standing. A baseball bat melee weapon is one of the newer additions to the game, which allows players to eliminate each other by swinging at them with said bat.

A bat in Ohtani’s hands is a dangerous situation for opposing pitchers in MLB, and the same goes for the rest of lobby when the Dodgers’ slugger is finally able to find the time to hop back online for a game or two.

Shohei Ohtani ‘very honored’ to join Fortnite Icon Series/h2>

Ohtani became the first baseball player to join the Fortnite Icon Series, joining the likes of LeBron James and Patrick Mahomes. Ohtani said he is honored to be the latest athlete added to the global video game.
