Shohei Ohtani Breaks Dodgers Record For Home Runs At Dodger Stadium

Shohei Ohtani is in the midst of another MVP-caliber season and he added onto that Friday night in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 7-5 comeback win against the San Francisco Giants.

Prior to providing a big swing, Ohtani drew a walk in the fourth inning that extended his on-base streak to 25 games. It’s good for the longest active streak in the Majors.

Also during the Dodgers’ win, Ohtani scored his 140th and 141st runs of the season. He’s just the third player in the last 20 years to score at least 140 runs in a single season, joining Alex Rodriguez (143 runs, 2007) and Ronald Acuña Jr. (149, 2023).

Ohtani already had set a new L.A. Dodgers franchise record this year by scoring his 135th run. It surpassed the mark Ohtani had set last season.

Still within reach for the two-way superstar is the all-time Dodgers record for most runs scored in one season. That currently belongs to Hub Collins, who scored 148 runs for Brooklyn in 1890.

Also on Friday, Ohtani slugged his 53rd home run of the season to tie with the Philadelphia Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber for the National League lead. There’s some sense the two players are competing for 2025 NL MVP, though Dodgers manager Dave Roberts recently said Ohtani should win the award in a “landslide.”

Ohtani now is one home run away from tying his career high that was set last season, which also is a Dodgers franchise record.

Shohei Ohtani breaks Dodger Stadium record

Ohtani’s prolific hitting has amounted to setting another Dodgers record for the most home runs hit at Dodger Stadium in one year. That total is now up to 29, which is one more than Ohtani’s Dodger Stadium record that he set last season.

He has one more game to add onto that before the Dodgers finish the regular season on a six-game road trip.
