The Los Angeles Dodgers capped off a memorable 2024 season by defeating the New York Yankees to win their eighth World Series championship in franchise history.

The Dodgers used 40 pitchers over the course of the year, including Ryan Yarbrough, who was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for Kevin Kiermaier at the deadline.

Although he did not get to pitch in last year’s Fall Classic, Yarbrough was still recognized for his earlier contributions in the year with a 2024 World Series ring.

The left-hander collected the piece of jewelry at Dodger Stadium this weekend and had already planned to hide it from his Yankees teammates, via “Foul Territory:”

“They were like, ‘Oh are you going to get it? And when?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, it will probably just be whenever you play them during the year. Especially when I signed here, I was like, I will stash that thing away so fast, and maybe look at it later or something. I definitely can’t bring that thing around, for sure. No thanks.”

While Yarbrough is proud of his accomplishment, he doesn’t want to remind his new teammates of the disappointment they felt after falling short of their goal last year.

Yarbrough originally joined the Dodgers at the 2023 trade deadline and found success in a swingman role. He helped absorb innings for a Dodgers bullpen that had been overworked at various points, but struggled at the end of his tenure before going on to bounce back with the Blue Jays.

Yarbrough joined Jack Flaherty, Ryan Brasier, Brent Honeywell, Daniel Hudson and former Dodgers first base coach Clayton McCullough to receive their 2024 World Series ring after departing the organization this past offseason.

Ryan Yarbrough’s stats with Yankees

Yarbrough signed a one-year contract with the Yankees in late March and has proven to be a valuable signing so far. In 13 games (five starts), he owns a 3-0 record with a 2.83 ERA and 0.99 WHIP over 41.1 innings pitched.

Yarbrough’s most recent start was against the Dodgers, which saw him get through six innings with just one run allowed.
