Ryan Brasier Received 2024 Dodgers World Series Ring From Former Bullpen Teammates

The Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the Chicago Cubs for a three-game series this weekend marked Ryan Brasier’s first time at Dodger Stadium since being traded in February.

The 37-year-old spent parts of two seasons with the Dodgers, going 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA, 2.83 FIP and 0.83 WHIP across 68 appearances (four starts). He was a key member of the bullpen that helped the team win the World Series last year.

Brasier is currently on the 15-day injured list but traveled with the Cubs to Los Angeles so he could receive his 2024 World Series ring. “He was impressed with the yellow gold, the details of the ring,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Brasier.

“He got a little emotional, which was cool to see. Initially, the bullpen guys and Josh Bard and Mark Prior are who presented it to him. I was happy to follow up with Brandon Gomes. He was very grateful.”

The Dodgers re-signed Brasier to a two-year, $9 million contract in February, but a roster crunch led to him being designated for assignment and eventually traded to the Cubs for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

“I think just kind of the timing of it,” general manager Brandon Gomes said at the time. “Obviously, Brasier has been great for us. As we look out, how the bullpen is built and potentially needing some flexibility down the road, unfortunately Bras was the move.

“He’s been incredible for us. Great teammate, great dude. There’s a bunch of factors. It never feels good, but that was pretty much the reason.”

Brasier has made just one appearance with the Cubs so far, allowing two runs against the Dodgers in the Tokyo Series.

Ryan Brasier surprised by Dodgers trade

Brasier admitted to being surprised by the Dodgers’ trade but is happy to have landed with the Cubs, another team with World Series aspirations.
