The Los Angeles Dodgers got back into the win column with a 6-2 victory against the Washington Nationals, setting up a rubber match on Wednesday afternoon.

Mookie Betts started the Dodgers off in the first inning as he singled to open the game. A single from Shohei Ohtani and a walk from Freddie Freeman loaded the bases for Teoscar Hernández, who grounded into a double play, but allowed Betts to score.

Andy Pages, who was making his MLB debut, singled in the 2nd inning on the first pitch he saw and moved into scoring position when Miguel Rojas walked. Austin Barnes then singled home Pages to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead, and a double from Betts drove in Rojas for the third run of the game.

Kiké Hernández homered for his first long ball of the season in the fifth to give the Dodgers a 4-2 lead.

Betts started the Dodgers off in the seventh with a double and Freddie Freeman was intentionally walked. Following a fly out from Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernández hit an infield single that allowed Betts to score the Dodgers’ fifth run of the game.

Mookie Betts picked up his fifth hit of the game, finishing his night going 5-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. His single also drove in another run, giving the Dodgers their sixth and final run of the game.

Dodgers pitching sharp against Nationals

Kyle Hurt made the start after being recalled from Triple-A, and he ran into some trouble in the first by giving up three consecutive hits. However, he received some help by Teoscar Hernández and Kiké Hernández as they combined to throw out CJ Abrams at home plate, keeping the game scoreless.

Hurt had a much better second inning, but that was all he pitched as Ryan Yarbrough replaced him in the third. Yarbrough gave up a single to Jacob Young and allowed a two-run homer to Jesse Winker, but he then settled in.

Yarbrough went on to throw four consecutive scoreless innings, finishing his night with five innings pitched and two runs allowed.

Joe Kelly took over in the eighth inning and pitched a scoreless frame, while Daniel Hudson recorded the save.
