The Los Angeles Dodgers lost Miguel Rojas to a hamstring injury but rallied from an early deficit to defeat the San Francisco Giants, 10-5, winning the rubber match of a three-game series at Oracle Park.
The Dodgers went 3-4 on their road trip but avoided falling below .500 overall this season.
Unsurprisingly, Max Muncy factored heavily in their comeback win. His solo home run in the fifth inning tied the game, and a three-run blast in the sixth extended the Dodgers’ lead to 8-3. That gave Muncy four home runs and 11 RBI in the series, which included not starting on Tuesday.
Prior to Muncy punctuating the come-from-behind effort, the Dodgers drew four consecutive walks against Taylor Rogers to start the sixth inning. Chris Taylor’s was on a pitch timer violation, and Freddie Freeman fouled off 11 pitches before ending the plate appearance with a bases-loaded walk on the 15th pitch.
That was the most Freeman has seen in any plate appearance of his career, surpassing a 14-pitch walk on September 6, 2020. Freeman’s 15-pitch walk was the most seen by a Dodgers player since Justin Turner’s 16-pitch walk on May 26, 2014.
The longest before that in Dodgers franchise history was Alex Cora memorably ending an 18-pitch at-bat with a home run on May 12, 2004.
Trayce Thompson slugged a two-run home run off former teammate Ross Stripling in the seventh inning that traveled an estimated 426 feet.
Suddenly spotted a comfortable lead, Clayton Kershaw was able to complete the sixth inning with relative ease. The Giants benefitted from bloop hits early and took a 3-0 lead by the second inning, but were blanked by Kershaw after that.
Giants batters were a combined 5-for-11 in the first two innings, only to go 0-for-11 against Kershaw after that point. Kershaw earned the 199th win of his career.

Yency Almonte induced soft contact but the Giants made enough of it to bring a run in.
Evan Phillips allowed a leadoff single in the eighth but followed it with three consecutive strikeouts. Phil Bickford surrendered a solo home run to Thairo Estrada in the ninth inning before finishing out the win.
