Corey Seager produced an eighth career multi-home run game but Matt Kemp lifted the Colorado Rockies to a 7-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers suffered their first series loss of the season, and the Rockies won their first series at Dodger Stadium since 2018.

Seager’s opposite-field blast gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, though that turned into a deficit in the second when Josh Fuentes tagged Julio Urias for a two-run homer.

Will Smith’s solo homer tied the game in the bottom half of the inning, but RBI singles by Raimel Tapia and Nolan Arenado in the fourth again gave the Rockies a lead. Arenado’s base hit came off Dylan Floro, though the run was charged to Urias.

He was coming off an encouraging outing but only managed to pitch through 4.1 innings. There were some positives despite Urias allowing four runs as he avoided first-inning troubles and matched a season high with six strikeouts.

The scoring continued in the bottom of the fourth when Seager’s two-run homer pulled the Dodgers even. That was only for Garrett Hampson to push Colorado back ahead with a two-run triple off Jake McGee in the sixth inning.

Chris Taylor’s two-run homer in the bottom half put the Dodgers back ahead and while it held up longer than some of their others in the game, it eventually was erased. Caleb Ferguson’s struggles over the past week continued as he surrendered what amounted to a game-winning home run to Kemp in the eighth inning.

Up to that point Ferguson had retired three of his past 10 batters faced, allowing seven hits, including three home runs. He gave up just one homer through his first 15 relief appearances of the season.

Edwin Rios and Gavin Lux each walked with two outs in the ninth, giving Seager an opportunity but he couldn’t capitalize.
