The Los Angeles Dodgers hit a season-high six home runs en route to thumping the Kansas City Royals, 13-3, which extended their winning streak to 12 games.

Mookie Betts hit a sixth leadoff homer this season and 35th of his career to set the tone in a five-run first inning. Max Muncy, Justin Turner and Gavin Lux each hit an RBI single with the bases loaded before Royals starter Brad Keller managed to get the first out of the game on his 34th pitch.

Muncy led all players with four hits and four RBI. He finished a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. Muncy has been swinging the bat well since making recent adjustments, and with a two-run blast on Saturday, now has a homer in three of the past four games.

Prior to Muncy’s long ball in the fourth inning, the Dodgers received home runs from Will Smith and Lux in the second and third, respectively. Joey Gallo and Cody Bellinger combined for back-to-back home runs off Royals shortstop Nicky Lopez in the ninth inning.

The early run support was more than enough for the Dodgers pitching staff, although Andrew Heaney only managed to go three innings. He allowed two runs and exited due to a left arm contusion that was a result of being hit by a line-drive comebacker.

The Dodgers wore their 1955 Brooklyn uniform, and the Royals wore a 1945 Monarchs uniform as part of celebrating Jackie Robinson and the Negro Leagues.

Longest Dodgers winning streaks

The 12-game winning streak is a first for the Dodgers since 1976 (April 24 to May 7). The Los Angeles record is a 13-game winning streak, accomplished by the 1962 and 1965 teams. The longest Dodgers winning streak in franchise history is 15 games, achieved in 1924.
