Bobby Miller impressed in his MLB debut and the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a series win by defeating the Atlanta Braves, 8-1. The Dodgers have now won two games in a row since suffering consecutive losses to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Dodgers did their part in taking some pressure off Miller by scoring in both of the first two innings. Mookie Betts’ leadoff double to open the game led to a run when Will Smith’s chopper got through a drawn-in Braves infield for an RBI single.

After the Braves rallied to tie the game, Jason Heyward put L.A. back ahead with a leadoff home run in the second inning. The Dodgers then took advantage of a Matt Olson two-out error in the second inning.

Olson’s error allowed Miguel Rojas to reach, which was followed by Spencer Striding walking Betts to put two on. When both runners advanced on a wild pitch, the Braves opted to intentionally walk Freddie Freeman to load the bases.

Smith delivered in the RBI opportunity once again by pulling a two-run double down the line. Strider managed to stem off some of the Dodgers’ momentum after that point to get through six innings with four runs (two earned) allowed.

Although Strider provided more length than Miller, he was outdueled by the Dodgers prospect.

Miller held the Braves to just one run over five innings and earned his first career win. Miller was aided by Max Muncy making a terrific diving stop in the third inning to strand a runner at third base. Miller also left a runner on third in the fourth inning.

He retired nine of the final 10 batters faced, including four via strike out. Miller’s 95 pitches surpassed the 76 in his most recent start with Triple-A Oklahoma City for most this year.

While Miller’s fastball regularly hit triple digits, he effectively mixed secondary pitches to keep a talented Braves lineup off balance.

After Miller’s impressive outing, Yency Almonte, Brusdar Graterol and Evan Phillips each pitched a scoreless inning. The appearances came on back-to-back nights for all three.

J.D. Martinez broke the game open in the ninth inning with a three-run home run, which allowed the Dodgers
