The Los Angeles Dodgers lost Corey Seager to injury, but they defeated the Miami Marlins, 7-0, to extend their winning streak to four games. L.A. also has won consecutive series for the first time in one month.

Jordan Holloway held the Dodgers without a hit until Justin Turner’s leadoff single in the fourth inning, which wound up providing a bit of a spark. Max Muncy then followed with a single and Will Smith walked to load the bases with nobody out.

Holloway continued to have command struggles as he walked Chris Taylor to bring in a run and break up the scoreless tie. Gavin Lux’s RBI groundout doubled the Dodgers’ lead before Holloway could get through the inning.

L.A. added to it with two runs in the fifth on Max Muncy’s bloop single and Taylor’s groundout. DJ Peters contributed in the eighth inning for good measure, collecting his first career RBI on a two-run single.

By then the Dodgers had produced more than enough support for Trevor Bauer. He relied on a steady dose of fastballs and struck out the first five batters faced and retired eight in a row overall.

Bauer’s early bid for a perfect game was broken up by Holloway on a two-out single in the third. Garrett Cooper reached on a base hit with one out in the fourth inning, but Bauer then retired 11 straight.

Bauer got through seven shutout innings, tied a season high with 10 strikeouts and collected his first win since April 24. Bauer previously fanned 10 batters in each of his first two starts of the year.

Seager exits early

Having dealt with a rash of injuries this season, the Dodgers’ latest concern is with Seager after he was hit by a pitch in the hand/wrist area. He immediately dropped the bat in pain and was removed from the game without attempting to talk his way into still playing.

The team announced after the game he sustained a right hand fracture.
