The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back from a loss in the fist game of their doubleheader by cruising to an 11-2 win over the Colorado Rockies in the nightcap at Coors Field.
With the bases loaded and nobody out in the second inning, David Peralta broke out of his slump with a two-run single that gave the Dodgers an early lead. Amed Rosario then beat out a chopper to first base for an RBI infield single, and Chris Taylor’s flare brought in two more runs to cap off the five-run inning.
Kiké Hernández extended the Dodgers’ lead to 6-0 with a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and Kolten Wong added an RBI single. Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning and Will Smith’s sac fly in the seventh put L.A. up 10-2.
Max Muncy further padded the advantage with an RBI single in the ninth. Smith was the only member of the Dodgers lineup who did not get at least one hit in the win.
As the Dodgers added onto their lead throughout the night, Bobby Miller navigated his first career start at the hitter-friendly ballpark.
Miller didn’t allow a run until Elehuris Montero led off the fifth with a homer. The right-hander responded by striking out the next three batters to prevent the Rockies from generating any momentum in the inning.
Colorado got another run in the bottom of the sixth on Nolan Jones’ base hit that scored Charlie Blackmon.
Those were the only two runs Miller allowed on the night. He completed seven innings for a third time in his last five starts and set a career high with nine strikeouts. Perhaps most impressively, Miller did not walk a batter.

Miller’s performance came hours after Ryan Pepiot impressed in his bulk role that also included setting a career high with nine strikeouts in the first game of the doubleheader.
Moreover, Michael Grove struck out two and allowed just one hit over 1.1 innings in the afternoon affair as he looks to earn a spot on the Dodgers’ postseason roster.
