The Los Angeles Dodgers failed to capitalize on their opportunities throughout the night and suffered an 8-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants in 10 innings. It marked the Dodgers’ first time falling to the Giants through five head-to-head meetings so far this season.

Walker Buehler extended his streak of pitching at least six innings in all 10 starts, but his strikeouts remained down and home run ball was still an issue. Buehler only allowed three hits, with one of those a homer.

The Giants took their first lead of the game when Brandon Crawford doubled in the second inning and advanced to third base on a passed ball that was a result of Will Smith getting crossed up. That wound up costing the Dodgers as Donovan Solano followed with a sacrifice fly.

Matt Beaty’s soaring drive in the bottom of the second carried just enough to clear a leaping attempt from Mike Yastrzemski for a solo home run that tied the game.

The Dodgers loaded the bases in the third inning and put two on in the fourth, only for Anthony DeSclafani to work out of both jams.

San Francisco took the lead on Steven Duggar’s solo home run in the fifth, but the Dodger pulled even in the bottom half of the inning. With Justin Turner and Will Smith on base, Chris Taylor hit a hard ground ball to shortstop that Crawford had go off his glove when attempting to make a backhanded stop.

Buehler struggled with his command in the sixth inning and issued a pair of walks. That nearly led to the Giants again taking a lead but Yoshi Tsutsugo made a running catch on the warning track to end the inning and rob Crawford of a hit and at least one RBI.

Blake Treinen was not sharp on the second ninth of a back-to-back, hitting a batter with two strikes and walking another. Buster Posey took advantage with a go-ahead three-run home run.

That nearly propelled the Giants to a win, but Turner and Gavin Lux reached in the bottom of the ninth brought the tying run to the plate. With the Dodgers down to their last out, Austin Barnes delivered a game-tying pinch-hit home run.

Albert Pujols then made solid contact and had Dodgers players spilling out of the dugout, only for Mike Tauchman to make a leaping catch at the wall in left field to take away a walk-off home run.

Like Treinen before him, Kenley Jansen struggled on a second consecutive night pitching and allowed three runs.

Dodgers welcoming Bellinger, McKinstry

Cody Bellinger will be activated Saturday to start the final two games against the Giants, and Zach McKinstry is also returning.
