The Tampa Bay Rays find themselves in somewhat of a difficult position one week from the MLB trade deadline as they are seemingly out of the American League East race but have still have an opportunity at a postseason berth via the expanded Wild Card field.

That’s amounted to some uncertainty over their approach for the July 30 deadline as the Rays hold potential trade chips in Zack Littell, Brandon Lowe, Yandy Díaz, Zach Eflin, Pete Fairbanks, Randy Arozarena, Jason Adam and Isaac Paredes.

Having an impact outfielder available in a seller’s market would seemingly bode well for the Rays if they looked to the future.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Dodgers have interest in a trade for Arozarena:

“The Dodgers are in on Arozarena,” a source said. “He would be a great fit there.”

Arozarena remains under team control for two more seasons before potentially becoming a free agent after the 2026 campaign.

There was speculation the Rays considered including their dynamic outfielder in trade talks during the offseason, and the Dodgers were speculated as one of the teams having interest. However, L.A. instead wound up acquiring Tyler Glasnow and Manuel Margot in their trade with Tampa Bay.

In addition to Arozarena, the Dodgers have been linked to Luis Robert Jr. in trade talks with the Chicago White Sox.

Although general manger Brandon Gomes indicated their focus is on acquiring an elite starting pitcher, the Dodgers’ group of outfielders stands to benefit from being addressed as well. Teoscar Hernández is the lone everyday starter who has provided consistent production.

Andy Pages has entered a recent skid, there are questions with Miguel Vargas’ defense in left field and Jason Heyward hasn’t matched last year’s success as part of a platoon.

Dodgers trade for Randy Arozarena?

If the Dodgers wanted to trade for Arozarena, it likely would require parting with multiple high-ranked prospects in addition to one of Pages and Vargas as well.
