After a lackluster performance in the series opener at Chase Field, the Los Angeles Dodgers look to get back on track against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.

Part of the reason the Dodgers have been able to build up an 88-48 record and 19-game division lead is because of their success against National League West teams. The Dodgers are 10-6 against the Diamondbacks this season and 38-20 overall against their division.

Rookie right-hander Tony Gonsolin takes the mound as they look to continue that dominance. The 25-year-old does not have fond memories at Chase Field despite it being where he made his MLB debut on June 26.

Gonsolin allowed six hits and six runs (four earned) in four innings, suffering the loss. He has been outstanding for the big league club since then, pitching to a 1.42 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 19 innings across four games (three starts).

Overall in 23 innings with the Dodgers this season, Gonsolin has yielded a 2.74 ERA, 3.26 FIP and 0.91 WHIP with 17 strikeouts and three walks. He also went 2-4 with a 4.35 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 13 starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The Diamondbacks counter with a rookie of their own in right-hander Zac Gallen, who they acquired from the Miami Marlins at the trade deadline. In 11 combined games between the two organizations this season, Gallen is 2-4 with an impressive 2.56 ERA, 3.71 FIP and 1.35 WHIP with 68 strikeouts and 30 walks in 56.1 innings.

He faced the Dodgers on July 19 when he was with the Marlins and took the loss, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned) in 5.1 innings. He struck out five and walked four in that game.

Justin Turner has been the hottest Dodger hitter as of late, hitting another home run in the series opener. He has eight home runs and 14 RBI in his last 15 games, slashing .362/.415/.810 over that span. Turner enters with a five-game hitting streak.

As expected, Max Muncy remains out of the lineup. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Muncy is unlikely to play in any of the games at Chase Field. A fluoroscan and X-ray of Muncy’s right wrist both came back negative, but the club is awaiting results from additional testing.
