After dropping two consecutive games to the Miami Marlins, the Los Angeles Dodgers look to get back on track in the opener of a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park. It marks the start of an 11-game road trip for the Dodgers.

Hyun-Jin Ryu looks to improve on a perfect 3-0 record in the early going. Through four starts, he owns a minuscule 1.99 ERA, 2.71 FIP and 0.88 WHIP in 22.2 innings with a career-high 10.7 strikeouts per nine.

In his most recent outing against the Washington Nationals, Ryu tossed seven shutout innings, yielding only two hits and three walks with eight strikeouts. Dating back to April 10, the 31-year-old has allowed just two runs over his last 19 innings (0.95 ERA).

Since entering the Majors in 2013, Ryu has pitched to a 3.40 ERA and 1.16 WHIP across 39.2 innings (seven starts) at AT&T Park.

The Giants counter with fellow left-hander Derek Holland, who has struggled as of late. In his previous start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, he yielded three home runs and four earned runs in six innings — falling to 0-3 on the year.

Through four starts, Holland has posted a 4.98 ERA, 4.53 FIP and 1.06 WHIP in 21.2 innings with 22 strikeouts to seven walks. In his career against the Dodgers, he is 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 10 frames with more free passes (seven) than punch outs (six).

Los Angeles is 3-3 in head-to-head meetings against San Francisco this season. After the series opener was rained out and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, they split the two games last played at AT&T Park.

Corey Seager, who slipped and appeared to tweak his hip in Wednesday’s game, is not in the lineup for his 24th birthday. He admitted to dealing with some lingering discomfort but maintained the situation is not considered serious.
