UPDATE (11:40 p.m. PT):Less than one hour after the Los Angeles Dodgers’ loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the official scorer removed the error from Yasmani Grandal and gave it to Justin Turner.

The Los Angeles Dodgers overcame another quiet offensive night to force the Arizona Diamondbacks to extra innings, only for Pedro Baez to stumble for a second time in as many nights.

Baez issued back-to-back walks to start the 10th inning, then induced a pair of weak groundouts to third base. The second of which required Justin Turner to throw home in effort to prevent the go-ahead run from scoring.

Yasmani Grandal allowed the throw to get by him, and the Diamondbacks took a decided 3-1 lead. Fernando Rodney worked around a Corey Seager two-out pinch-hit single to convert the save opportunity.

It extended the Diamondbacks’ winning streak to a franchise-best 12 games and wrapped up a fifth consecutive win against the Dodgers. The Diamondbacks are the first National League team to win 12 consecutive games this season, besting an 11-game winning streak by the Dodgers.

Tuesday’s matchup was a near repeat of the series opener that saw Robbie Ray and Rich Hill duel for much of the night. The second game of the series featured a battle between Zack Greinke and Hyun-Jin Ryu.

Neither pitcher allowed a hit through three innings. The only baserunners to that point came via the one walk Ryu issued in each the first and second inning. Despite the early free passes, Ryu struck out six through in the first three innings.

J.D. Martinez’s double down the right-field line with one out in the fourth was the first hit in the game. A walk followed, and Daniel Descalso’s RBI double that nearly cleared the short wall in left field gave the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead.

Greinke lost his perfect game on Andre Ethier’s leadoff walk in the third, but he didn’t allow a hit until Grandal led off the bottom of the fifth with a game-tying home run.

That opened the floodgates in some regard, as Adrian Gonzalez and Ethier then hit back-to-back singles to put two on with nobody out. Greinke escaped the jam by inducing Logan Forsythe into a double play on the first pitch and striking out Ryu.

The decision to allow Ryu to bat for himself and not Seager, who was on deck to pinch-hit, nearly backfired. Ryu issued a leadoff walk in the sixth but got through the inning unscathed behind a double play and groundout.

Despite walking five, Ryu limited the Diamondbacks to just one run on three hits and had seven strikeouts over six innings. Greinke bested the effort by going seven innings, also with just one run allowed, and six strikeouts compared to one walk.

Ross Stripling backed Ryu with two scoreless innings in relief, and Kenley Jansen worked around some traffic for a scoreless ninth. Ketel Marte’s two-out single off Kenley Jansen was the Diamondbacks’ first hit since the fifth inning.

A stolen base and walk put the tying run in scoring position before Jansen got out of the inning on 28 pitches.

Having won 10 of 18 meetings, with only one more remaining, Arizona clinched the season series against Los Angeles for the first time since the 2013 season. The Dodgers fell to 1-10 in their last 11 games and are now on a five-game losing streak.
