New Dodgers Broadcaster Adrian Gonzalez Making SportsNet LA Debut For Padres Game

New Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Adrian Gonzalez is poised to make his SportsNet LA debut on Friday night. Gonzalez will be in the Spectrum studio and serve as an analyst for the matchup with the San Diego Padres.

The timing is certainly fitting as Gonzalez rose to prominence with the Padres. From 2006-2010, he was a three-time All-Star, won two Gold Glove Awards and received National League MVP votes in four separate seasons — including a fourth-place finish in 2010.

Despite emerging as a perennial All-Star, the Padres traded Gonzalez to the Boston Red Sox after the 2010 season. The ensuing April he signed a seven-year, $154 million contract with Boston. However, he was then sent to the Dodgers as part of a blockbuster trade on Aug. 25, 2012.

Gonzalez remained with the Dodgers for parts of six seasons, batting .280/.339/.454 with 164 doubles, 101 home runs and 448 RBI in 735 games. It was the longest tenure Gonzalez spent with any team during his career, and he reached 100 career home runs and 2,000 hits while with the Dodgers.

Having last played in the Majors with the New York Mets during the 2018 season, Gonzalez officially retired this past February.

He has previously made guest appearances as an analyst, including during the 2017 postseason. “I’m so excited to be working on the pregame and post game broadcasts this year,” Gonzalez said of joining the Dodgers broadcast team on an official basis.

“I can’t wait to reconnect with all of the great Dodger fans.”

Gonzalez among new Dodgers broadcasters

Along with Gonzalez, the Dodgers hired Eric Karros, Jessica Mendoza, José Mota and Dontrelle Willis as new broadcasters. They will hold various roles across Spectrum SportsNet LA, AM 570 L.A. Sports Radio and KTNQ 1020 AM.

The Dodgers broadcast team returned Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrín, Joe Davis, Orel Hershiser, Fernando Valenzuela, Charley Steiner, Rick Monday, Nomar Garciaparra, Pepe Yñiguez, Jerry Hairston Jr., John Hartung, Tim Neverett and Kirsten Watson.
