NBA All-Star Tyrese Haliburton recently made headlines for wearing a Shohei Ohtani Los Angeles Dodgers jersey on the bench during a preseason game between the Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs.
The Dodgers are in the middle of a National League Championship Series matchup against the the Milwaukee Brewers, who Haliburton grew up cheering for as a Wisconsin native.
However, Haliburton suddenly stopped supporting the Brewers after an incident that occurred last summer. The 25-year-old was scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at American Family Field, but those plans changed late.
The Pacers had just eliminated the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the 2023 NBA playoffs, and Haliburton believes that was a factor in the Brewers canceling his appearance.
Since the self-proclaimed snub, Haliburton has gone on to lead the Pacers to another playoff series win over the Bucks.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers and Brewers are playing in the postseason for only the third time. L.A. previously eliminated Milwaukee during the 2018 NLCS and swept them in the 2020 Wild Card round.
The Dodgers are now two wins away from another playoff series win over the Brewers and returning to the World Series for a second consecutive year.
Tyrese Haliburton wore Cubs jersey
Despite his recent success against Milwaukee, Haliburton continues to make an effort to troll the Brewers any chance he gets. He also wore a Chicago Cubs jersey to a game when they faced the Brewers in the NL Division Series.
Although he didn’t get the result he wanted, Haliburton has to be thrilled with how the NLCS is shaping up so far. The Dodgers won the first two games in dominant fashion and now have a chance to close out the Brewers at home.
