Mookie Betts & Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Hosting Thanksgiving Event

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation is teaming up with Brotherhood Crusade and Mookie Betts’ 50/50 Foundation for their annual Thanksgiving Grab and Go! Basket distribution at the Algin Sutton Recreation Center on Thursday.

Algin Sutton Recreation Center is located at 8800 S. Hoover St, Los Angeles, CA 90044. The event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

It aims to serve 750 families with turkeys, Thanksgiving fixings, gift cards, and basic essentials to ensure they can enjoy a holiday meal. The drive-thru is open to the public, and resources will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

We Benefit Children (WBC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families and children across Greater Los Angeles, is also joining the distribution.

Joining Betts to help distribute the Thanksgiving meals are going to be his wife Brianna and additional family members.

The event continues a long-standing partnership among LADF, the 5050 Foundation and Brotherhood Crusade, rooted in a shared commitment to addressing the unmet needs of under-resourced families, including food insecurity.

Since 2020, LADF and the 50-50 Foundation have contributed more than $717,000 to support Brotherhood Crusade’s work and advance their community-focused initiatives.

With the latest effort, Betts continues his work in the Los Angeles community following his recent recognition as the 2025 Roberto Clemente Award recipient, Major League Baseball’s most prestigious individual player honor.

Betts was nominated by the Dodgers for his many extraordinary efforts, including a variety of programs through his foundation and helping victims of the Southern California wildfires.

He partnered with LADF earlier this year to contribute $160,000 to the Brother Crusade, supporting hunger and homelessness initiatives. Betts also served customers at a local Raising Cane’s in Alhambra, helping raise more than $100,000 for his 5050 Foundation.

Mookie Betts grateful to win Roberto Clemente Award

Betts became the fourth Dodgers player to ever win the Roberto Clemente Award, and was the organization’s first recipient since Justin Turner in 2022.

The 2025 regular season was far from the most successful offensive season of Betts’ career, but winning the Roberto Clemente Award further made him appreciative of bouncing back and still having positivity during the year.
