Major League Baseball announced its “MLB World Tour” for 2024, which will see games played in four countries outside of the United States and Canada.

While not for the regular season, the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays are due to meet for a pair of Spring Training games at Estadio Quisqueya in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from March 9-10.

Opening Day of the 2024 season is going to see the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres playing two games in Seoul, South Korea, on March 20-21. It marks MLB’s first time playing regular season games in South Korea.

Then in April, the Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies are facing off for two games in Mexico City, Mexico. It represents a second consecutive year MLB games will be played south of the border.

Finally in June, the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies will play two games at London Stadium in the United Kingdom.

“Major League Baseball is incredibly excited for this extensive slate of international games in 2024,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. “Our recent efforts have produced strong enthusiasm around the globe and we look forward to building on that foundation with returns to Mexico City and London, while also opening the season in Korea for the first time.

“In addition, we can’t wait to celebrate the tradition of the sport in the Dominican Republic with our visit to Santo Domingo next March. We are thrilled that our fans across four different countries outside the United States and Canada will have the opportunity to see the game’s stars.”

MLB World Tour 2024

Seoul, South Korea

The Seoul Series between the Dodgers and Padres in South Korea will be just the ninth outside of the United States and Canada in MLB history, and the first since 2019, when the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners played in the Tokyo Series.

For the Dodgers, this is their first international trip since playing the Padres in Monterrey during the 2018 season. L.A. also faced the Arizona Diamondbacks for an Opening Series in Sydney, Australia, in 2014.

Aside from their matchup against the Dodgers in 2018, the Padres have played in one other international series, which took place this year against the San Francisco Giants in Mexico City.

Mexico City, Mexico

The two-game set between the Astros and Rockies will mark the seventh regular series played in Mexico. Houston is playing in their first international series since 2019, when they faced the Los Angeles Angels in Monterrey.

The Rockies are making their first international trip also since 2019, which saw them play exhibition games against the Diamondbacks in Monterrey.

The Dodgers threw a combined no-hitter during their appearance in the Mexico Series in Monterrey during the 2018 season.

London, United Kingdom

There have been two series previously played in the United Kingdom during an MLB regular season, with the Red Sox and New York Yankees renewing their rivalry across the pond in 2019 for the London Series, and the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs meeting this year.

The Mets haven’t played an international series since 2010, when they faced the Florida Marlins in a three-game series in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As for the Phillies, they are making their first international trip since playing the Pittsburgh Pirates in San Juan during the 1977 season.
