Major League Baseball and the Washington Nationals officially unveiled the logo for the 2018 All-Star Game. The 89th Midsummer Classic will be played July 17, 2018, in a National League stadium a fourth consecutive time.
The All-Star Game logo is red, white, and blue with the words All-Star Game written across the white facade of the U.S. Capitol, which associates the Nationals and Washington D.C. At the unveiling ceremony MLB commissioner Rob Manfred mentioned this is the beginning of a 12-month process to ensure that the 2018 All-Star week is a memorable event for all.
Nationals season ticket holders have first priority and are guaranteed access to purchasing a ticket to the 2018 All-Star Game. All other fans can register for an opportunity for the chance to be selected to purchase tickets. Complete ticket information can be viewed here.
Former National League MVP Bryce Harper, who has spent his entire career with Washington, announced at the unveiling ceremony that he plans to participate in the Home Run Derby if he is selected to his sixth All-Star Game. Harper last participated in the Home Run Derby in 2013.
Washington hosts its first MLB All-Star Game since the franchise moved there from Montreal in 2005. The Cleveland Indians have already been awarded the 2019 All-Star Game.
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ first and only time hosting an All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium came in 1980, but Manfred recently said the team is in the running to play host in the near future.
