MLB Trade Rumors Projects Dodgers 2018 Arbitration Salaries

The Los Angeles Dodgers 2017 season was an extremely successful one, as they won a Los Angeles franchise record 104 games, winning the National League West for the fifth straight season.

They advanced to the World Series for the first time since 1988 but ultimately fell short of their goal as they were defeated by the Houston Astros in seven games.

A lot of last year’s team will be returning in 2018, although they do have some key free agents in Yu Darvish, Brandon Morrow, Tony Watson, Chase Utley and Andre Ethier, a couple of which could be back if they choose to re-sign with the Dodgers in free agency.

Los Angeles also has a large group of players that are eligible for salary arbitration. The group consists of Yasmani Grandal, Luis Avilan, Alex Wood, Tony Cingrani, Josh Fields, Pedro Baez, Kiké Hernandez, Joc Pederson and Yimi Garcia.

Via MLBTradeRumors.com are the projected 2018 arbitration salaries for the nine eligible Dodgers:

Yasmani Grandal (5.115) – $7.7MM
Luis Avilan (4.146) – $2.3MM
Alex Wood (4.123) – $6.4MM
Tony Cingrani (4.088) – $2.2MM
Josh Fields (4.083) – $2.2MM
Pedro Baez (3.059) – $1.5MM
Enrique Hernandez (3.054) – $1.3MM
Joc Pederson (3.028) – $2.0MM
Yimi Garcia (3.004) – $700K

Last year the Dodgers avoided arbitration with all of their players who were eligible — Avilan, Fields, Grandal, Wood, Chris Hatcher and Scott Van Slyke. Relief pitcher Louis Coleman was non-tendered and became a free agent, while reliever Vidal Nuno ended up being traded.

The deadline to tender a contract to arbitration-eligible players is Friday, Dec. 1. The deadline to file for arbitration will be Jan. 9, with each side then submitting one salary figure on Jan. 12.

Sides are permitted to continue negotiating even after filing for arbitration and exchanging figures. Arbitration hearings will be held in February in front of a three-person panel. The Dodgers’ last hearing was in 2007 with reliever Joe Beimel.
