In addition to notable free agents Rich Hill, Russell Martin and Hyun-Jin Ryu, the Los Angeles Dodgers also saw a slew of Minor League players reach the open market. In most cases it involved players who were organizational depth.

However, the Dodgers’ group of Minor League free agents also included the likes of Daniel Corcino, Edward Paredes and Jaime Schultz. Each of the pitchers have been up with the club at various points over the past three seasons.

Schultz’s time with the Dodgers didn’t come until this past April when he was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The right-hander then shuttled to and from Oklahoma City throughout the season.

However, the 28-year-old is no longer part of the organization as he has agreed to a Minor League contract with the Oakland Athletics, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle:

Schultz was designated for assignment in September when Rich Hill was activated off the 60-day injured list. He subsequently cleared waivers and was sent outright to the Minors.

Schultz was a 14th-round draft pick of the Rays back in 2013. He spent the first five seasons of his professional career in the Rays’ Minor League system before joining the Dodgers in 2019.

He made his MLB debut in 2018 with the Rays but struggled to the tune of a 5.64 ERA over 30.1 innings. He was even worse in Triple-A Durham, recording a 5.75 ERA in 36 innings last season.

Schultz went 2-3 with a 5.85 ERA over 47.2 innings in 47 games with OKC this year. He only pitched in four games for the Dodgers, posting a 7.20 ERA, 6.41 FIP and 1.80 WHIP to go along with three strikeouts in five innings.
