The Los Angeles Dodgers are re-signing Miguel Rojas for the 2026 season, which is going to be the 13th and final year of his career.
With that, Rojas is poised to play a fifth season with the Dodgers as part of a tenure that’s come over two separate stints. Rojas made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 2014 but then played for the Miami Marlins from 2015-2022.
The Marlins traded Rojas to the Dodgers in January 2023 in exchange for Jacob Amaya. The veteran infielder signed a contract extension one month later, and the deal included a team option for 2025.
Rojas first shared a desire to end his career with the Dodgers after the 2024 season. He reiterated that stance during the postseason and said 2026 would be the final season he plays.
Over his four seasons with the Dodgers thus far, Rojas has hit .248/.304/.352 with 58 doubles, 19 home runs and 103 RBI in 426 games. During that time he’s played all four infield positions and also made eight pitching appearances.
Of course, his greatest contribution came by hitting a solo home run in Game 7 of the World Series to help the Dodgers complete their comeback to capture a second championship in a row.
Miguel Rojas to take player development role
Upon completing his 13th Major League season, Rojas intends to immediately join the Dodgers front office and assist them in player development. Rojas revealed his plan while announcing on Instagram he was re-signing with the team.
Taking on that type of role is hardly a surprise when considering the impact he’s had on the clubhouse. Particularly with Mookie Betts, who regularly has praised Rojas for assisting his transition to becoming a Gold Glove-caliber shortstop.
Moreover, Rojas was won a second consecutive Roy Campanella Award this year, which is annually given to the Dodgers player who best exemplifies the spirit and leadership of the late Hall of Fame catcher.
Dodgers uniformed personnel votes for the winner who’s deemed the “Most Inspirational Dodger.”
“It means a lot,” Rojas told DodgerBlue.com upon winning the award for the second season in a row. “I take a lot of pride in what my teammates and the guys around the clubhouse think about me, and I always say that I’m a server in baseball. I’m here to do whatever is necessary to win.”
