Kiké Hernández: Dodgers ‘Well-Positioned’ To Repeat As World Series Champions

Several members of the Los Angeles Dodgers have been outspoken in their desire and belief that the organization can be the first repeat World Series champions since the New York Yankees accomplished the feat from 1998-2000.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and multiple players began to express that sentiment during the team’s World Series celebration at Dodger Stadium.

Throughout MLB history there have only been only 14 teams to win least two consecutive World Series titles. It is a remarkable feat to be able to accomplish due to the unpredictable nature of October baseball, even more so in the present due to the addition of the Wild Card round as part of an expanded postseason field.

However, the Dodgers certainly have the talent to pull it off in 2025 and can improve their odds even more with a strong finish to an already productive offseason.

One of the moves that could boost their odds is re-signing Kiké Hernández. During an episode of “House Calls,” Hernández became the latest to share a belief the Dodgers are capable of repeating as World Series champions:

“I think this team, the Dodgers, are very well-positioned to make another run and be the first back-to-back team since the New York Yankees in ’99, 2000.”

It is not a hard argument to make as the Dodgers figure to have a much less arduous attempt in 2025 compared to everything they had to overcome this year.

There are still some players that need to be re-signed, but most of the 2024 roster is returning for next season. The Dodgers have also fortified their rotation with Blake Snell and made an upside play by adding Michael Conforto on a one-year contract.

But the biggest contribution to the Dodgers roster in 2025 will be health. Not only getting the likes of Tyler Glasnow, Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin back from injury, but the key will be finding a way too mitigate injures so there is not a repeat of the three-man playoff rotation.

There is also the fact that Shohei Ohtani will be back at full capacity as a two-way player, which is both exciting and extremely valuable to the Dodgers in its own right.

Dodgers who want to ‘run it back’

The streak of 24 years without a repeat champion is the longest of its kind in MLB history and it has been rare that a team even comes close to challenging it. The 2023 World Series champion Texas Rangers failed to so much as make the playoffs this year.

Roberts, Freddie Freeman, Clayton Kershaw, Mookie Betts and Ohtani have all aspired to change that in 2025.
