When the Los Angeles Dodgers won their first World Series in over three decades last year, a limited crowd was on hand to watch the celebrations at Globe Life Field.

That of course was a byproduct of the 2020 season being played under unique circumstances due to the coronavirus (COVID-19 pandemic). Before their National League Championship Series matchup against the Atlanta Braves, the Dodgers took the field with no fans present for any of their games.

Some normalcy was restored this season as MLB teams, in accordance with local guidelines, gradually allowed fans to return to ballparks. Despite Dodger Stadium not returning to full capacity until mid-June, L.A. led baseball with 2,804,693 home attendance.

Prior to the Dodgers reaching the postseason this year, Justin Turner said on a recent episode of the “Holding Kourt Podcast” that he was looking forward to the energy that fans will bring to Dodger Stadium:

“That’s when our fans really come out and really help us have that home-field advantage, which we missed last year in the postseason. We didn’t even have that, so can’t wait to hear Dodger Stadium this year. How electric, exciting and just the energy that is buzzing through there.”

As Turner noted, the Dodgers boast one of the most passionate fanbases in all of baseball, and the energy they bring will be valuable as the club attempts to defend their World Series title.

The Dodgers fell short of winning their ninth consecutive NL West title and will host the St. Louis Cardinals in the Wild Card Game on Wednesday. Should L.A. advance, it would put them in the NL Division Series for a matchup with the San Francisco Giants.

Game 3 of the NLDS would be played at Dodger Stadium on Monday, and if necessary, Game 4 is Tuesday.

Turner: Meaningful September games good for Dodgers

Among other topics Turner discussed was the tight NL West race that unfolded between the Dodgers and Giants.

The 36-year-old believed the plethora of meaningful games the team played last month can only help them for what the team hopes is another deep postseason run.

Clayton Kershaw previously shared his belief that being in playoff mode for the final stretch of the regular season would benefit the team.
