Joe Kelly Receives 2024 Dodgers World Series Ring

Joe Kelly was presented his 2024 World Series ring on Saturday before the Los Angeles Dodgers faced the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium.

Kelly was accompanied by his wife, Ashley, and their four children. The Dodgers played a video montage while the Kellys stood on the field and the entire team then emerged from the dugout to present him with the World Series ring and MLB gold jersey.

The 37-year-old is currently a free agent but said during an interview on SportsNet LA that he has been throwing off a mound in hopes of potentially signing with a team later this season.

Kelly was among the 40 pitchers who appeared in a game with the Dodgers last year. He was plagued by a shoulder injury that limited him throughout the regular season and prevented him from pitching in the playoffs.

Kelly went 1-1 with a 4.78 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 9.8 strikeouts per nine in 32 innings pitched. It was his second season with the Dodgers since being reacquired from the Chicago White Sox at the 2023 trade deadline.

Before that, Kelly spent three seasons with the Dodgers and was part of their 2020 World Series championship team. The right-hander originally joined L.A. on a three-year, $25 million contract after the 2018 season.

Kelly began his career with the St. Louis Cardinals and spent parts of three seasons there before he was traded to the Boston Red Sox in 2014. Kelly had an up-and-down tenure but helped the team win the World Series in 2018, which coincidentally came against the Dodgers.

Kelly joined Ryan Yarbrough, Jack Flaherty, Ryan Brasier, Brent Honeywell, Daniel Hudson and former Dodgers first base coach Clayton McCullough to receive their 2024 World Series ring after departing the organization this past offseason.

Will Dodgers re-sign Joe Kelly?

Given that they are always looking to improve their depth, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Dodgers take another flier on Kelly at some point this year.

Kelly made it clear he wants to continue his career and indicated during the offseason that he would retire if the Dodgers don’t re-sign him.
