MLB and Apple reached a rights agreement that called for two Friday night games to be streamed exclusively on Apple TV+ each week, beginning with the 2022 season.

The new “Friday Night Baseball” offering premiered with a doubleheader featuring the New York Mets taking on the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros facing the Los Angeles Angels.

The Los Angeles Dodgers made their debut on Apple TV+ when they hosted the Cincinnati Reds on Jackie Robinson Day. Now they are back on the streaming service Friday for the series opener against the Cleveland Guardians.

The Friday night games being carried by Apple TV+ are be free from local blackout restrictions. However, fans who want to watch them will eventually need to have an active subscription to the streaming service.

A subscription to Apple TV+ costs $4.99 and includes access to the company’s growing library of original TV shows and movies. Through June 24, Friday Night Baseball games will be available to watch for free in the Apple TV+ app.

In addition to the weekly doubleheader, fans in the U.S. will be able to enjoy “MLB Big Inning,” a live show featuring highlights and look-ins that will air every weeknight during the regular season.

Apple TV+ also will give subscribers in the U.S. and Canada access to a new 24/7 livestream with MLB game replays, news and analysis, highlights, classic games and more.

How to get Apple TV+
