The 2024 MLB All-Star Game was held at Globe Life Field on Tuesday, which saw the American League earn a 5-3 win over the National League. The AL has now won the Midsummer Classic in 10 of the last 11 years.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were represented by Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernández, Freddie Freeman and Will Smith in this year’s All-Star Game.

Ohtani hit second and served as the starting designated hitter for the NL, going 1-for-2 with a three-run homer and walk. The 30-year-old’s blast broke a scoreless tie in the third inning.

Ohtani became the first Dodgers player to hit a home run in the All-Star Game since Mike Piazza left the yard at Veterans Stadium in 1996 en route to earning MVP honors.

Moreover, Ohtani became the second Japanese-born player to homer in an MLB All-Star Game, joining Ichiro Suzuki, who hit an inside-the-park home run in 2007.

Ohtani also became the only player in MLB history to have all of his team’s RBI and walks in an All-Star Game.

Hernández started in center field for the injured Fernando Tatis Jr. (San Diego Padres) but couldn’t build on winning the Home Run Derby as he went hitless in two at-bats.

Smith took over behind the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning and reached on an infield single with one out in the sixth. He grounded out in his next at-bat to finish 1-for-2.

Freeman also pinch-hit in the sixth but grounded into an inning-ending double play. That was the 34-year-old’s only at-bat in what marked his eighth All-Star Game appearance.

Mookie Betts & Tyler Glasnow miss All-Star Game

While the Dodgers had four players participate in the All-Star Game, Mookie Betts (left hand fracture) and Tyler Glasnow (back tightness) did not play.

Glasnow made the trip to Texas while Betts did not travel with his teammates.
