Grand Central Market Pays Off Dodgers-Red Sox World Series Bet In Boston

Two of the most historic sports franchises and cities squared off in the 2018 World Series as the Los Angeles Dodgers faced the Boston Red Sox with a championship on the line for the first time since 1916.

It was a hard-fought series, but ultimately, the Red Sox ended up beating the Dodgers in five games. It marked a second consecutive loss in the Fall Classic for the Dodgers, with both years concluding with decisive losses at Dodger Stadium.

The cities of Boston and Los Angeles have been rivals for many years, largely because of the Celtics and Lakers clashing in memorable NBA Finals, but that extended to the baseball diamond this year. Various restaurants and stores made bets with establishments in the opposing city, which the Los Angeles versions now have to pay off after the Dodgers were defeated.

One of those was Grand Central Market, who had a bet with Faneuil Hall Marketplace. If the Red Sox won, Grand Central Market had to make tacos in Boston. If the Dodgers won, culinary artists from the Quincy Market Food Colonnade would bring baked beans and clam chowder to Los Angeles.

Grand Central Market held true to their word, and posted to their Twitter page that they would be serving in Boston on Friday:

Here in LA, we’re proud to be good World Series sports! ⚾️ Chef Tomas Martinez will be traveling to Boston and serving free tacos to fans in #RedSox gear at @FaneuilHall. Tag an East Coaster and tell them to stop by on November 9th from 11 am – 1 pm! pic.twitter.com/sZO765PuE4

The friendly wagers even made its way to the United States Senate offices with California Senators Kamala Harris and Dianne Feinstein coming together against Massachusetts Senators Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren.

Although the Dodgers weren’t able to break through in 2018, they are in a good position to make it back to the World Series next year as their core nucleus of players will all be back and ready to make another run.
