Giancarlo Stanton Trade Rumors: Marlins Expected To Finalize Deal Within 2-3 Days

Trade rumors involving Miami Marlins All-Star Giancarlo Stanton have heated up in recent days, as both the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals have been in hot pursuit, with the Los Angeles Dodgers among the teams also mentioned in speculation.

Stanton has a full no-trade clause, giving him the ability to veto any deal, and with his sights on playing for his hometown Dodgers, he has yet to approve a trade to either the Giants or Cardinals. Despite that, the Marlins are said to have already worked out the details of deals with both teams.

The Dodgers have proceeded much more cautiously in their pursuit of Stanton, in large part because of a preference to not to take on his full remaining salary and soar past the luxury tax threshold.

But if the Dodgers want to land the reigning National League MVP they may have to get involved quick, as according to Craig Mish of Sirius XM Radio, the Marlins are expected to finalize a trade in the coming days:

If the Dodgers do get involved in the Stanton sweepstakes, it won’t be just to keep him away from their rivals. The threat of the Giants potentially trading for Stanton is something the Dodgers reportedly aren’t worried about.

Los Angeles has better prospects to offer Miami than San Francisco does, but with the Marlins prioritizing unloading his salary, Stanton could be headed to the Giants if he approves the trade.
