White Sox GM Motivated By Sharing Camelback Ranch With Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox share a Spring Training home at Camelback Ranch, but they otherwise are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum heading into the 2025 season.

The Dodgers are coming off winning their eighth World Series title in franchise history, while the White Sox set an MLB record with 121 losses last season.

They’re due to play two head-to-head Cactus League games this spring, with the first coming Saturday as part of split-squad action for the Dodgers.

Despite the White Sox seemingly being far off from getting anywhere near the heights the Dodgers have reached, general manager Chris Getz considers being in close proximity — connected, if you will — at Camelback Ranch is a positive, per Jesse Rogers of ESPN

“It’s a great opportunity to be matched up in a facility with a team that won the World Series, to have something to aim towards,” general manager Chris Getz said. “How do we get to beat them? How can we compete? So yeah, the Dodgers have been a very successful organization. With that being said, we know what we need to do and we’re set out to do that.”

In addition to sharing Camelback Ranch since it opened in 2009, there are current player connections between the Dodgers and White Sox because of a trade last season.

Michael Kopech has not yet pitched this spring due to injury but is expected to again be a key member in the Dodgers bullpen. Meanwhile, Miguel Vargas could be part of a young White Sox core that helps turn the team around.

Noah Schultz, Hagen Smith, Colson Montgomery and Kyle Teel are among heralded White Sox prospects.

White Sox prospect hits home run off Sasaki

The Dodgers had Roki Sasaki make his Spring Training debut by pitching in a hybrid ‘B’ game on a backfield at Camelback Ranch, where he was matched up against Minor Leaguers from the White Sox.

Among them was Teel, who made national headlines by hitting a leadoff home run against Sasaki. The rookie right-hander largely settled in from there and completed three innings.
