Freddie Freeman & Wife Chelsea Donate $1 Million To Children’s Hospital Of Orange County

Freddie Freeman overcame several challenges during the 2024 season, including a difficult stretch when one of his sons, Maximus, was hospitalized in late July due to a rare neurological disorder known as Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Each of Freeman’s three sons were under the weather during the All-Star break, but Max’s condition worsened compared to his siblings. The saga that ensued included initially being misdiagnosed.

Max was put on a ventilator to aid with breathing and required feeding tubes after being admitted to Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). Freeman was away from the Los Angeles Dodgers for eight games before Max started showing significant progress.

Now nearly a year later, Freddie and Chelsea Freeman further expressed their gratitude to the doctors and nurses who cared for Max by making a generous $1 million donation to the CHOC Foundation.

The CHOC Foundation is dedicated to raising funds that support the care, services, education and research provided by CHOC Hospital to children throughout the community.

Chelsea Freeman previously treated the doctors and nurses of CHOC to a Dodgers game last September, which also represented Max’s first appearance at Dodger Stadium since being released from the hospital.

The group posed together in blue “#MaxStrong” shirts that Dodgers players, coaches and broadcasters began wearing while Max was hospitalized.

Freddie Freeman donations

The Freemans have previously demonstrated their generosity through donations to build a new baseball clubhouse that included a locker room, team meeting area, coach’s office and extended batting cages in the 1,440 square foot space at Freddie’s alma mater, El Modena High School.

The Freemans also donated a grand total of $300,000 to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Pasadena Fire Department and Salvation Army to support wildfire relief efforts.
