When looking back at the Los Angeles Dodgers’ streak of nine consecutive postseason appearances, one player who comes to mind is Yasiel Puig.

The Cuban-born outfielder burst onto the scene with the club and had a memorable first few seasons before being traded to the Cincinnati Reds during the 2018 offseason.

It’s been three years since Puig appeared in an MLB game as he has spent the last two seasons playing in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. The 31-year-old now has gone overseas in 2022 after signing a one-year contract with the Kiwoom Heroes of the KBO League.

Now in Korea, Puig had an opportunity to catch up with former Dodgers teammate Hyun-Jin Ryu and shared a photo of themselves on Twitter.

It was like being home again, not speaking the same language but understanding everything each other says 😂 Thanks for the great dinner @HyunJinRyu99 pic.twitter.com/gPTpDpYbcp

Puig didn’t always see eye-to-eye with his teammates but had a good relationship with Ryu in particular. The two quickly became friends and often played pranks on each other.

In six seasons with the Dodgers, Puig hit .279/.353/.478 with 129 doubles, 108 home runs and 331 RBI over 712 games. He finished second in National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2013 and earned an All-Star appearance the following season.

Ryu, who is now with the Toronto Blue Jays, also made his MLB debut in 2013 and spent six seasons in L.A. He went 54-33 with a 2.98 ERA, 3.32 FIP and 1.16 WHIP in 740.1 innings pitched.

Buehler among Dodgers working out at Push Performance during MLB lockout

With no timeline on when the 2022 season may begin, Dodgers ace Walker Buehler is among the MLB players working out at Push Performance in Phoenix, Ariz.

While some have been training on their own, the MLBPA has also begun organizing training camps in Arizona and Florida for players.
