The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to repeat as World Series champions, while the Toronto Blue Jays are in the Fall Classic for the first time since 1993.

Regardless of which team wins, Buddy Kennedy and Jose Ureña are guaranteed to receive a World Series ring. Both players spent time with the Dodgers and Blue Jays during the 2025 season.

Kennedy began the year with the Philadelphia Phillies before getting designated for assignment and eventually joining the Blue Jays in July.

It was a brief stint in Toronto as the Dodgers claimed Kennedy off waivers on Aug. 15. Julian Fernández was DFA’d to make room for Kennedy on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster.

Kennedy was brought in as infield depth when Max Muncy landed on the 15-day injured list due to a right oblique strain. The 27-year-old would appear in seven games with the Dodgers, going 1-for-17 at the plate.

Kennedy was again DFA’d on Aug. 25 as the corresponding move to Kiké Hernández being added back to the Dodgers active roster. He elected free agency after clearing waivers and returned to the Blue Jays on a Minor League contract.

Jose Ureña’s stats with Dodgers

Ureña began the 2025 season with the New York Mets but appeared in only one game before getting designated for assignment. After clearing waivers, he signed a Minor League contract with the Blue Jays.

Ureña found some success in Toronto but was again DFA’d after spending roughly a month with the team. He then signed a Major League contract with the Dodgers as the team was in search of bullpen help.

Ureña allowed one run on four hits and collected two strikeouts against one walk in two appearances for the Dodgers.

The 34-year-old was DFA’d on June 10 as the corresponding move to Matt Sauer being recalled. Ureña cleared waivers and went on to sign a Minor League contract with the Minnesota Twins.

Ureña ended the year with the Los Angeles Angels and tied a Major League record by playing for five teams in a single season.
