The Los Angeles Dodgers have dealt with a rash of injuries to their pitching staff throughout the season, and with that has come opportunities for several prospects to make respective MLB debuts and forced the team to rely on some of their organizational depth.

Edgardo Henriquez became the latest pitcher to get an opportunity with the Dodgers. He was promoted from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday night and made his debut against the Padres.

Henriquez impressed in his one inning of work, collecting two strikeouts while allowing just one hit. The right-hander is considered a potential candidate for the Dodgers bullpen came the postseason.

“Get him in here, get him in the big leagues, and see how he looks, how he responds, and go from there,” manager Dave Roberts said before the series opener against the San Diego Padres.

“But he’s certainly a weapon. He’s secret in the sense I don’t think anyone knows him outside of our organization as far as you know the Major Leagues, but it’s going to be exciting to watch him make his debut.”

Dodgers record for most pitchers used

Henriquez making his MLB debut amounted to the Dodgers setting a new franchise record for most pitchers used in a single season at 40.

The old Dodgers franchise record for most pitchers to appear in a game was 39, set in 2021 and matched in 2023.

Meanwhile, Michael Kopech converting a save earlier this season tied a Dodgers record as he became the 12th different pitcher with at least one. The Dodgers originally set that franchise record of 12 pitchers with at least one save in 2022.
