Dodgers World Series: Justin Wrobleski Explains ‘Not Taking Disrespect’ From Andrés Giménez

Game 7 of the 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays had just about everything, including a benches-clearing incident that stemmed from Justin Wrobleski hitting Andrés Giménez with a pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The left-hander threw two fastballs up-and-in to Giménez before hitting him on a 2-2 count. That came after he appeared to stick his hand out in effort to get hit on the previous pitch.

Giménez and Wrobleski exchanged words with each other, prompting both teams’ benches and bullpens to clear. Crew chief Mark Wegner issued warnings, but no players were ejected.

“He got mad that I hit him,” Wrobleski said after the Dodgers’ 5-4 win in 11 innings. “I wasn’t trying to hit him. He was trying to get hit, and then he got hit and proceeded to tell me whatever he told me.

“I’m not going to take disrespect like that. I’m going to ask him what his problem is. He said something and started walking to first base, and I’m not going to take that. Whatever. It is what it is. That’s part of the game.

“Crazy that it happened. I don’t think that’s ever happened to me in my career. I don’t think I’ve ever had someone do that to me, but whatever. It’s part of it.”

A benches-clearing incident in the World Series is fairly unprecedented but not out of the realm of possibility.

Things got testy in Game 2 of the 2000 Fall Classic between the New York Yankees and New York Mets when Roger Clemens threw a piece of a bat in Mike Piazza’s direction.

Wrobleski ultimately got the last laugh as the Dodgers rallied to defeat the Blue Jays in extra innings and repeat as World Series champions.

Justin Wrobleski’s stats in Game 7

Wrobleski allowed two hits and collected two strikeouts over 1.1 scoreless innings against the Blue Jays in Game 7.

He was removed from the bottom of the fourth with two runners on base and one out. Tyler Glasnow entered in relief and retired the next two batters to keep the Dodgers’ deficit at two runs.
