The Los Angeles Dodgers advanced past the National League Wild Card Series after defeating the Cincinnati Reds in Game 2 on Wednesday.
The Dodgers punched their ticket to the NL Division Series with an 8-4 victory over the Reds at Dodger Stadium.
After the final out landed in Mookie Betts’ glove and the team lined up for postgame handshakes, the Dodgers posed on the infield grass for a team photo wearing their new October Baseball shirts.
Before the celebration began in the batting cage, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts delivered a message to his players about being prepared to contribute when called upon and emphasized the importance of every player on the 26-man roster.

Roberts: "There's a lot of work to be done. My only ask is that every single guy be ready when called upon."

Two of the more important performers in Game 2, Kiké Hernández and Roki Sasaki, were highlighted during the celebration. Sasaki’s one-inning performance was particularly noteworthy considering everything he has endured this season and how impressive he looked compared to the other relievers.
And Clayton Kershaw continued to revel in the celebration as he plays out his final season with the Dodgers.
There wasn’t a repeat appearance of the champagne and beer Slip ‘N Slide from the NL West clinching celebration, but there was still plenty of alcoholic precipitation and congratulations to go around.
2025 NLDS: Dodgers vs. Phillies
The Dodgers’ next opponent is the Philadelphia Phillies, who secured the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye. The two sides played six games against each other this season, with Philadelphia winning four of those.
Included in that was the Phillies winning a series at Dodger Stadium late in the season. What seemed like a postseason preview ended up materializing, although the Dodgers aren’t planning on drawing much from the previous series.
Max Muncy doesn’t think there are many takeaways that apply to a postseason scouting report against the Phillies.
“Personally, I don’t necessarily think so,” he recently said. “We’ve done that in the past, where we’ve played teams right before we’ve seen them in the postseason, and usually they do everything the complete opposite.”
