The Los Angeles Dodgers (24-9) bring MLB’s best record into Arlington as heavy betting favorites on the MLB odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com this weekend for a three-game series against the struggling Texas Rangers (11-19). The Dodgers are fresh off a doubleheader sweep of the San Francisco Giants, putting together consecutive seven-inning shutouts after Wednesday’s matchup was postponed as the players boycotted the contest.

Los Angeles got six scoreless innings from Clayton Kershaw in the first game of the doubleheader and then saw Victor Gonzalez pick up the win in the second game after going 2.1 innings in relief of Caleb Ferguson. The Dodgers pulled off two shutouts in the same day for the first time since 1971, and they now will send 22-year-old righty Dustin May (1-1, 2.79 ERA) to the mound opposite winless Mike Minor (0-5, 6.75 ERA) and the Rangers.

May has seen his team win five of his six starts so far even though he has earned only one victory during that stretch. He has yet to give up more than two runs in any of his outings, with four of them lasting less than six innings.

Meanwhile, Minor has mostly struggled in his six starts, giving up four runs or more four times and five or more three times. In the lone win the Rangers picked up in his six outings, Minor pitched four scoreless innings against the Seattle Mariners and allowed only one hit.

When facing American League opponents, Los Angeles has won eight of its last nine games, according to the OddsShark MLB Database, with the OVER on a 5-2 run. The loss during that stretch came at Seattle 6-4 on August 19 as a -240 road favorite at sports betting sites. Texas has dropped two straight games and 10 of 11 overall, but the team has also struggled versus National League foes recently, losing five in a row, with the OVER cashing in all five interleague matchups. The Dodgers have won the past five meetings with the Rangers, the last taking place in 2018.
