The Los Angeles Dodgers pounded the Philadelphia Phillies for a combined 25 hits and 22 runs through the first two games of their series at Citizens Bank Park. Seven of the Dodgers’ 25 hits were home runs.

What’s more, Los Angeles matched a season high with 15 runs scored in Tuesday’s victory. They were led by Chase Utley’s two home runs, including a grand slam, and five RBIs. Then on Wednesday, Adrian Gonzalez slugged a pair of homers and finished with five RBIs.

Just as was the case when they met earlier this month at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers entered the series finale in position to complete a three-game sweep.

They failed to do so, despite jumping out to a lead and clubbing multiple home runs. The first of which was courtesy Justin Turner, who again hit a moonshot to left field for a three-run homer:

Turner’s home run was his second in as many games, 10th since the All-Star break, and 23rd this season. He leads the Dodgers in homers and with 72 RBIs.

Then in the fourth with the Dodgers’ lead trimmed to 3-1, Yasmani Grandal lined a solo home run off the photo of himself on the video board in right field:

Like Turner, Grandal has also heated up after a slow start to the season. The 27-year-old catcher now has 20 homers on the year, with eight coming after the All-Star break. Grandal is tied with Jonathan Lucroy for most home runs hit by a catcher in 2016.
