While the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers met for a three-game series at Dodger Stadium in April, Zack Greinke’s turn in the starting rotation didn’t come up during that time.

Given that the first game of the series was the Dodgers’ 2016 home opener, both club’s rosters were announced during pregame ceremonies. Greinke, who stunned many with his offseason decision to sign with the Diamondbacks, heard some boos.

The Dodgers got their first look at the right-hander on Monday night in what was also their first visit to Chase Field. Dodgers fans have historically had a strong showing in Arizona, which has ruffled the feathers of the Diamondbacks front office.

While the focus was on Greinke’s pitching performance against his former teammates, how he would fare at the plate wasn’t too far behind.

Greinke’s first at-bat came in the third inning and included some boos that were eventually drowned out by cheers. He jumped on Mike Bolsinger’s first pitch for a drive to deep center that included a bat flip, but ended in a fly out:

As for his work from the mound, Greinke threw a season-high 119 pitches over seven innings, allowing two runs and picking up a sixth consecutive win in the Diamondbacks’ 3-2 victory.
