For all the players who have donned a jersey with the Brooklyn or Los Angeles Dodgers, no one with ties to the franchise is more revered than Vin Scully. His calls for countless historic plays are just as memorable as the moment itself.

Among Scully’s most recognizable coined phrases or terms was his bestowing Yasiel Puig with the ‘Wild Horse’ nickname. During his four seasons of calling games Puig played in, Scully often marveled at the enthusiasm and flair the Cuban native had.

Since retiring at the conclusion of the 2016 regular season, Scully has made multiple appearances at Dodger Stadium for special engagements and ceremonies. The players, as one would expect, have warmly greeted him each time.

While it was not at Chavez Ravine or a planned event, Puig and Scully found themselves in each other’s company in Beverly Hills and the two shared a big embrace, via TMZ Sports:

During Scully’s final season in the broadcast booth, Puig showed his respect by wearing custom cleats in the Hall-of-Famer’s honor. It earned him a warning from MLB, and Puig later gifted them to Scully.

Scully was on hand for the World Series, and narrated the first pitch ceremony prior to Game 2. Although it seemed Scully would deliver the ball to Steve Yeager, he deputized Fernando Valenzuela to do the honor.

Scully said he thoroughly enjoyed the moment and was touched by the heartfelt welcome from the fans, but called it his final on-field activity.
