Dodgers Video: Rich Hill, Justin Turner Lead Way In Sweep Of Marlins

The Los Angeles Dodgers extended their winning streak to nine games while completing a three-game sweep of the Miami Marlins. Los Angeles finished the season series with six wins in their seven head-to-head meetings.

The story through the first four innings on Sunday was much of the same for the Dodgers in what’s now a 29-4 stretch. Justin Turner’s solo home run in the first inning provided an early lead, and his sacrifice fly in the third extended it.

Chris Taylor led off the fourth inning with a triple, which was followed by an Austin Barnes RBI single to center field.

Rich Hill retired the side in order in the first inning, then struck out five in a row after Marcell Ozuna doubled to lead off the second. Hill held the Marlins scoreless through four innings.

An A.J. Ellis double and JT Riddle base hit with one out in the fifth eventually led to a run on Ichiro Suzuki’s pinch-hit RBI infield single. Hill limited the damage by striking out Martin Prado and retiring Giancarlo Stanton.

He went five innings, allowed just the one run, and finished with nine strikeouts. In his past five starts, Hill has thrown 31 innings, allowed six earned runs, walked six and recorded 44 strikeouts.

Kenley Jansen inherited a baserunner at second base with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. His balk allowed Dee Gordon to advance to third base, and he scored on Christian Yelich’s base hit to center field.

Jansen returned the mound in the ninth inning and shut the door on the Marlins to convert his ninth four-out save. He also improved to 23 for 23 in save opportunities this season.
