Dodgers Video: Cody Bellinger, Yasiel Puig Hit Home Runs In Comeback Win Against Mets

Coming off a dominant month of July, Rich Hill was knocked around early on Saturday. He surrendered three home runs in the first inning, including back-to-back shots, which gave the New York Mets a 3-0 lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Mets starter Seth Lugo had a no-hitter through 4.2 innings that was lost on a Yasmani Grandal double. Lugo managed to finish out the fifth without allowing a run. His shutout bid was lost the following inning, however.

Chris Taylor’s leadoff home run marked the start of a furious onslaught. The home run was Taylor’s 15th this season and third in as many games.

Two batters after surrendering the homer to Taylor, Lugo was tagged for a game-tying, two-run home run by Cody Bellinger. The blast was Bellinger’s team-leading 31st of the year, which ranks second in the National League.

Yasiel Puig added to Lugo’s troubles in the seventh by leading off with a line-drive home run that had just enough air to clear the fence in left field. Puig’s 21st homer this season extended his career-best mark and gave him two in as many games against the Mets.

Justin Turner led off the eighth with a home run and Corey Seager added a two-run shot in the ninth inning that reached the upper deck in right field. With their five home runs in the comeback win, the Dodgers have hit 23 in six games against the Mets this season.

What’s more, the Dodgers improved to 43-7, besting their 42-8 stretch from 2013, and became the first team since the 1912 New York Giants to win 43 of 50 games.
