Dodgers Video: Lakers’ Andre Ingram Throws Out First Pitch

What’s been a whirlwind week for Los Angeles Lakers guard Andre Ingram continued as he was on hand at Dodger Stadium to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Friday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

He was joined by his wife and two daughters, who have been in Los Angeles since arriving over the weekend to watch his NBA debut. Ingram said he didn’t have much experience in throwing a baseball outside of doing so with a tennis ball in a backyard.

He still looked enough of the part of a pitcher, going through a quick windup and lofting a pitch to Kyle Farmer at the plate. While velocity may have been lacking, the 32-year-old was at least on target.

After throwing the out the pitch, Ingram and his family had the honor of announcing retired broadcaster Vin Scully’s famous, ‘It’s time for Dodger baseball’ phrase.

After spending 10 seasons in the NBA’s development league, Ingram was signed by the Lakers for their remaining two games of the season. He set a franchise record for most 3-pointers (four) in a debut game, and had the most points (19) by a Lakers player in his first game since Nick Van Exel had 23 in 1993.

Ingram heads into the offseason hopeful that he’s shown enough to warrant an opportunity in the NBA next season, which he told our sister site, LakersNation.com, he hopes is with the Lakers.
